The Carroll Police Department responded to two motor vehicle accidents in the days surrounding the Christmas holiday. The first occurred at approximately 3:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23 at the intersection of U.S. Highways 30 and 71. Authorities say 17-year-old Branden Brincks of Glidden was traveling eastbound on 30 in a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and had stopped for a red light. At the same time, a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pulling a utility trailer, driven by 54-year-old Patrick Tigges of Carroll, was approaching the intersection and was unable to stop due to slick road conditions. The Tigges vehicle collided with the rear of the Brincks truck, resulting in functional damage. The second accident occurred Sunday evening at the intersection of 10th and West Streets at approximately 5:36 p.m. An initial investigation shows a 2011 Kia Sorento driven by 42-year-old Lisa Wiederin had stopped at the intersection facing east. Slick road conditions prevented a 2011 Dodge Dakota, driven by 39-year-old Keri Borkowski of Carroll, from stopping in time, resulting in a rear-end collision. No injuries were reported but both vehicles sustained functional damages.
