Area Residents Get Assistance Through Carroll County Relief Fund And Other New Opportunities Programs

A Carroll County relief program has been going extremely well, according to CEO of New Opportunities, Chad Jensen. He says they have been able to help residents get through this difficult year.

Jensen says 17 families doesn’t seem like much for that level of assistance, but they have been able to work with many, many more than that through other affiliated programs.

All of the clients on these lists are receiving assistance, Jensen explains, but the county program is designed to be the last option left on the table.

New Opportunities has an audit committee within their board of directors and approximately three times per year, this group comes in and conducts a random audit of individual client cases. Jensen has invited members of the Board of Supervisors to do the same, so they can rest assured the county program is operating as intended. He would like to see this scheduled a couple of time each year, perhaps in February and July or August. Supervisor Chair, Rich Ruggles, says ideally they would rotate these audits among the members of the board so they can all see first-hand how the program works and ask questions as they arise.
