Denison Processing Plant Makes Donations To Fire Departments Who Responded To Fire Last Fall

Eight fire departments were recently recognized for their quick action and brave response to a fire at a Denison processing plant over the Labor Day weekend. Quality Food Processors (QFP) has completed a round of donations, $10,000 in all, as a way to show their thanks and support to the men and women who safely evacuated the facility and managed the blaze, resulting in only minor damage to the building. “We are very grateful for the rapid response and valiant efforts put forth by all of the area firefighters to contain and put out the blaze,” says QFP General Manager, Eric Kohler. “They made sure our team was safe and saved us from any major damages or disruptions. It’s the least we could do to recognize their amazing actions that Labor Day weekend.” Kohler and other employees have personally delivered the donations to each department, which includes those who were heavily involved at the scene: the Denison Volunteer Fire Department; Charter Oak; Kiron and Manilla Fire Departments, as well as those on standby from the Vail, Ricketts, Dow City and Schleswig Fire Departments. Kohler adds the brave firefighters and their families are very deserving of support. “Our communities here in Crawford County are very fortunate to have such an expertly qualified group of volunteer and full-time firefighters,” he says. Updates are currently underway in areas of the QFP plant that were affected by the fire. The company is also working to expand production and its workforce.
