The first Carroll County Board of Supervisor meeting for 2021 boasted a lengthy agenda that included a discussion on a proposal to partner with a company for increased Medicaid reimbursement and an approval to submit a settlement offer on a claim that is currently pending litigation. We will bring you more details on the Medicaid reimbursement proposal in an upcoming newscast, but will be unable to discuss any details on the settlement offer until the county releases a statement in the near future. The majority of the meeting was for committee and commission assignments and the annual appointment of the board’s chair and vice chair. 2020 Chairman, Rich Ruggles made the first nomination.

Stephanie Hausman was unanimously elected to act as Vice Chair for 2021. Part of the annual process includes committee assignments for the members of the board as well. Meiners stated some changes had been made to committees that were previously served by retired supervisor Neil Bock. He says they did not believe it was fair to give the newly elected supervisor, Scott Johnson, the Rolling Hills Mental Health assignment because of the complexity of the issues they are facing at this time.
