Teenage Driver Uninjured After Hitting Telephone Pole Near Jefferson Monday

A teenage driver was lucky to escape injury after reportedly falling asleep at the wheel Monday evening. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at 240th Street near J Avenue, west of Jefferson, at approximately 5:07 p.m. The 16-year-old was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu and told authorities he fell asleep at which time the car entered the ditch and struck a telephone pole. The Malibu was totaled and there was an estimated $1,000 in damage to the pole.
