Atlantic At Kuemper
Atlantic 63 Kuemper 33
The game was tight at the end of the 1st quarter as Kuemper scored first on a bucket by Karly Baumhover but then needed to rally after Atlantic went on a 14-0 run. The Carroll Tigers were able to pick up a great win to back back to an even season record against the Carlisle Wildcats Friday night. Early on, it was hard to tell that the Tigers would go on to score 51 points as they started off this bout with a 8-4 lead after the first quarter. With 3:39 left in the game, the score was at 3-2 in favor of the Tigers with Laura Sweeney scoring the first point of the game with a free throw. The 3-2 zone defense of the Wildcats made it almost impossible for the Tigers to score. The Tigers would pick up the pace of the game in the second quarter, and so would the Wildcats. The Tigers were only able to outscore the Wildcats by three points in this quarter, but held on to the 27-19 lead at halftime. The struggle for both teams in this half was turnovers. Both were unable to really score off of steals or would be unable to keep control of the ball while going down for a layup or the score. The Tigers were forced to the free throw line seven times in the first half, scoring seven points off of those attempts.
In the second half, the Tigers would dominate from here on out, not allowing the Wildcats to score in double digits in the third quarter. The Tigers started the third quarter with a 9-0 run before the Wildcats were able to bring in their only score of the quarter, a three-pointer from Caylin Furnal. The Wildcats struggled to score once again in the fourth quarter as the Tigers continued to pack on the points. The Tigers ended the final quarter with 10 points and walked away with the 51-31 win over the Carlisle Wildcats.
