Deloris Sturm died Saturday, January 16, 2021 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, at the age of 94. A private Mass of the Christian will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Friedrichsen. Instrumental music will be by Marilyn Hundling. Lector will be Christy Sturm. Casket Bearers will be Jason Sturm, Tony Sturm, Eric Sturm, Joe Sturm, Kelly Bauer, Steven Sprouse, Mike Schulze, and Andrew Ortner. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Breda. John and Susan (Schulte) Steinkamp welcomed Deloris into the world on July 19, 1926. On November 23, 1948 Deloris married Ed Sturm. The made their home in the Breda area and
raised their 5 children. Deloris worked most of her life, some of those places included Zeke’s Place, Snappy Popcorn, and Neumayer Store. She loved to get a good game of Euchre with family, or Pass the Ace with her grandchildren. Deloris enjoyed gardening, watching the Chicago Cubs, and making her famous potato salad. Deloris’ grandchildren will always remember her homemade banana bread. Most of all Deloris enjoyed the time she spent with her children, and grandchildren of all generations.
Deloris is survived by her children: Gary Sturm of Eldora, Tom Sturm of Carroll, Bill (Charlene) Sturm of Glidden, Mike (Karen) Sturm of Carroll, and Christy Sturm of Carroll; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren with one more expected soon, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters: Lois Sturm of Carroll, Rita (Dave) Roth of Altoona; brothers: Duane Steinkamp of Breda, and John Steinkamp of Gowrie; sisters-in-law: Ruth Steinkamp of Carroll, and Margy Steinkamp of Ankeny; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Deloris was preceded in death by her husband Ed in 2007. Her parents: John and Susan Steinkamp; her siblings: Norville (Lucille) Steinkamp, Merle Steinkamp, Iver Steinkamp, Irene (John) Sturm, Donald (Mary Ann) Steinkamp, Roger Steinkamp, Eugene (Marilyn) Steinkamp, Anita Steinkamp, and Dale Steinkamp; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Frank (Liz) Sturm, Les (Ann) Ohde, Frances (Lawrence) Haukap, Rose (Arnold Odendahl, Lorraine (Bill) Ebersol, and Albert Sturm.
