Kuemper trailed by as many as 14 in the 3rd quarter before cutting it to 4 late in the 4th but their rally came up short. The Knights did a nice job getting to the rim against Red Oak but missed too many shots at the rim. On the other end of the floor Red Oak dominated the glass and scored a lot of 2nd and 3rd chance points.

PHOTOS: Sponsored by Roselle Mutual Insurance   The game was tight and swung back and forth in the 1st quarter 5 lead changes and was tied at 13 late in the quarter before Kuemper edged ahead 14-13 at the break. Red Oak scored first in the 2nd quarter and never trailed the rest of the game. Max DeVries got hot and helped them build the lead to 6. Kuemper brought in a new 5 guys who sparked them and Taye Vonnahme hit a shot from the free throw line tying the game at 23 but Kuemper couldn’t get the lead back. Red Oak led by 3 at half but came out behind DeVries and went up 43-29. John Mayhall scored 8 straight points for Kuemper and then Mitchell Badding who had 9 in the 1st quarter knocked down his fourth 3 and Kuemper gained some momentum. They would pull within 58-54 but an out of time. Mitchell Badding had a team high 16 points, John Mayhall finished with 13 points, 7 rebounds, Michael Pottebaum had 9 points and Noah Bauer had 7 points and 6 rebounds. The Knights fall to 2-9 overall and 1-5 in the Hawkeye 10. They will look to break their 7 game losing streak on Tuesday when they host Clarinda on KCIM. The Bulldogs would start off the night in a big way going 10-0 before the Wildcats would score off a Karter Kennebeck bucket. The Bulldogs would pull away with the 16-4 lead going into the second quarter. The Wildcats would start to swing the momentum back to their corner as they pushed ahead in the second quarter. Brigham Daniel and Carter Scott would get hot from behind the arc, both scoring a three. Scott would lead the Wildcats with 11 points and begin the comeback for the Wildcats, while outscoring the Bulldogs 14-12, the lead would stay with the Bulldogs at 28-18 at halftime.   The second half is where the Wildcats would start to chip away at the Bulldog’s 10 point lead. The one to lead the charge would be Cale Klocke would would drain three 3s in the third quarter. The Wildcats would get closer and closer to the Bulldogs lead, cutting it down to four points at halftime with a score of 42-38. The Wildcats kept fighting back, getting within one point of the Bulldogs to start off the fourth quarter. But, this comeback would be short lived as the Bulldogs had a little bit more gas in the tank. The Wildcats would keep feeding Klocke the ball, giving him two more threes in the fourth quarter. Keeping a firm hold of the ball in transition was the issue for the Wildcats in the closing minutes of the game. The Bulldogs would continue to match each bucket the Wildcats scored in the final quarter and would close out the game with the nine point 64-55 win.   Individually for the Wildcats, Cale Klocke and Carter Scott would end their nights with 17 points each, Karter Kennebeck would have five points, Tyler Brant would sink in four points, and Caden Smith had one point. The Wildcats fall to 2-10 as the Ogden Bulldogs improve to 6-6.   The Wildcats will be in action next when they take on the Woodbine Tigers at home on Tuesday, January 19th.
