The Sac County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning to motorists this (Tuesday) afternoon cautioning of deteriorating road conditions. Sheriff, Ken McClure, says wind speeds have picked up considerably in the area with ice and slush accumulating on many roadways. U.S. Highway 71 was down to a single lane at approximately 12:30 p.m. after a semi-tractor trailer was blown from the roadway north of Early. According to the National Weather Service, sustained winds of nearly 30 mph have been recorded with gusts up to 40 mph. McClure encourages drivers to slow down and use caution when traveling in the region.
