The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to at least nine motor vehicle accidents or motorist assists Tuesday caused by high winds and blowing snow, but only one resulted in any significant damage. According to their initial investigation, a 2016 Ford Transit van, driven by 49-year-old Russell Thomas Kennedy of Hawarden, was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 30 when he crossed into the eastbound lane at approximately 1:25 p.m. Authorities say the Ford sideswiped a 2019 Mack semi-tractor trailer, driven by 26-year-old Colton Randall Neumann of Westside. Kennedy reported possible minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Carroll County Emergency Medical services. The van sustained disabling damage estimated at $15,000 while the semi and trailer sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.
