A Lake City family of artists have made a donation of wooden toys to St. Anthony Regional Hospital. Randy and Mary Kay Kent have had grandchildren who spent time in hospitals and they wanted to give back to others going through a similar situation. Randy retired from hog farming in early September of 2020 and nearly immediately went to work in his wood shop, bringing his ideas for wooden toys into reality. Mary Kay lent a helping hand with the finishing process, sanding down the toys to ensure there were no rough edges. The Kents are hopeful that children will get some happiness and forget their problems for just a little while as they get down on the floor to play with these toys. The couple has also made donations to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines and Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
