Carroll played very well in the 1st half and had a lead on 6th ranked SE Polk (Class 4A) heading into the 4th quarter before things slipped away. The Tigers suffered their first loss of the season getting outscored at the free throw line 15-4. The Tigers had some chances down the stretch after leading 43-40 entering the 4th quarter but turnovers and missed free throws derailed their efforts. Carroll made just 4-10 of from the free throw line while SE Polk hit 15-17 free throws.
Carroll jumped out early taking a 20-11 lead after the 1st quarter and leading by 10 at the half. The Tigers executed well against the Rams pressure. They finished the game with three players in double figures and assisted on 12 baskets.
Tory Feldman led the way with 17 points while Kaleb Booth and Nick Macke each had 12 points. Booth added 7 assists and 5 rebounds.
Carroll falls to 12-1 on the season. They return to conference action on Tuesday At Winterset.

Kuemper held the led at the end of each quarter on Saturday as they picked up their 4th win of the season. The Knights wanted to lock down on defense and rebound better on Saturday and just get back to playing basketball for fun. It worked as they had maybe their best performance of the season. Kuemper shot 45% from the field and hit 12 of their 25 shots from three point range. Dawson Gifford went off from deep hitting 5 of 6 shots. John Mayhall was also on fire going 3 for 5. Michael Pottebaum added to the mix with a pair of 3’s.
Kuemper led by 4 at the end of the 1st quarter, increasing it to 5 at half and the end of the 3rd. Kuemper assisted on 20 of their 22 made baskets and only turned it over 14 times.
Dawson Gifford led the way with 19 points, John Mayhall finished with 13 points, adding 8 assists. Noah Bauer had 10 points and 6 rebounds. Dawson Edwards also had 8 points and 5 assists.
The Knights improved to 4-10 on the season and are off until Friday when they host Lewis Central.
