Girls State Wrestling Tournament

Kiersten Carroll of East Sac was the lone local wrestler to compete on Saturday going 2-2 on the day. She won her first match of the day by fall over Angela McCracken of Waterloo East in 3:50. In her 2^nd match on Saturday in Consolation Round 6 she would win by a 6-5 decision over Eva Heise of Waverly-Shell Rock. Carroll fell in Consolation Round 7 by fall to Jolynn Tiefenthaler of Ridge View 19-8 and then had a medical forfeit loss against Hannah Feel of Dubuque Senior in the 7^th place match as she finished 8^th in the 113 pound weight class.

Audubon, Carroll, East Sac and South Central Calhoun At Herb Irgens At Ida Grove

Don Bosco won the team championship going away on Saturday outdistancing Sergeant Bluff-Luton by over 100 points. South Central Calhoun was the highest placing local team in 6^th place with 110 points and one individual champion. The Titans had 6 wrestlers place with Blake McAlister as the lone champion and Kevin King finishing in 2^nd place. The Titans finished Saturday going 11-14 on the day with 8 of their 11 wins by fall. Carroll High wrapped up the tournament in 8^th place with 103 points. The Tigers had 8 wrestlers place with Jireh Gallegos taking 2^nd and Abraham Dirkx finishing in 3^rd. Carroll high went 13-11 on the day and finished the tournament with a winning record. The Tigers had 7 wins by fall on Saturday and a major decision. East Sac was 17^th overall with 45 points and had 4 wrestlers place. Justin Rupnow was their top finisher at 4^th. The Raiders were 6-13 on Saturday with 3 wins by fall. Audubon was 18^th with 43 points. The Wheelers had 3 wrestlers place with Javyn Bladt their highest placer in 4^th.  Audubon was 2-8 on Saturday with a win by fall and a major decision.

Blake McAlister of South Central Calhoun went 2-0 to win the championship at 170.  Jayden Soard was 3-1 with all 3 wins by fall and finished 5^th. Kevin King went 1-1 and finished 2^nd, Ayden Toms was 1-2 and was 4^th. His win was by fall. Justin Rohlfing went 2-2 with 2 wins by fall and finished 6^th. Jaydon Maschke was also 2-2 with both wins by fall and finished 6^th.

Jireh Gallegos led Carroll in 2^nd place and was 1-1 with a fall, Abraham Dirkx went 2-1 with a fall and major decision, finishing 3^rd.  Cooper Ludwig finished Saturday 1-2 with his win by fall and finished 4^th. Cade Schable finished 6^th going 2-2 on Saturday. Cael Nelson and Cole Miller both went 2-1 on Saturday with Nelson winning a match by fall and Miller had two wins by fall. Both wrestlers finished 7^th. Tyson Bordenaro also had a win by fall and was 2-1 taking 7^th. Carter Drake had a medical issue going 1-2 to finish 8^th as he medical forfeited his last two matches.

Justin Rupnow led East Sac in 4^th place going 1-2, Charlie Veit and Garrett Quirk each went 2-2 with a win by fall each. They both finished 6^th. Wyatt Thorpe was 1-2 with a win by fall and took 8^th place.

Javyn Bladt was 4^th for Audubon going 1-2 with a major decision. Coper Nielson brought back a 5^th place finish going 1-2 with a fall. Carter Andreasen ended his tournament in 6^th and lost both his last matches with a medical issue.
