A Storm Lake man is being held on a $5,000 bond after assaulting two officers. The incident began with a call to the 700 block of Walnut Street at approximately 12:40 a.m. Monday morning. While speaking with 43-year-old Francisco Javier Gonzalez Duarte, he became belligerent and pushed one of the officers. As they attempted to take him into custody, he physically resisted, striking one officer in the face and biting another in the leg. Law enforcement was forced to deploy a taser to subdue Gonzalez Duarte without further incident. The officers sustained only minor injuries, but one was treated at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center. Gonzalez Duarte has been charged with two counts of assault on persons of certain occupations causing bodily injury, aggravated misdemeanors, and interference with official acts causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor.
