Jefferson Man With History Of Run-Ins With Law Enforcement Arrested Monday On Drug Charge

A Jefferson man with a history of run-ins with law enforcement in Greene County was taken into custody Monday afternoon on drug charges. According to the Jefferson Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of E. Monroe Street at approximately 1:44 p.m. in response to a reported disturbance. Authorities determined the cause of the disturbance to be 33-year-old Steven Logan Dzuris, who later left the property voluntarily. He was taken into custody at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center at approximately 4 p.m. Monday afternoon after a substance believed to be methamphetamine was found on his person. Dzuris is charged with second-offense possession of a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor. Dzuris was arrested multiple times over a two-week span nine months ago. On May 1, Dzuris fled from an attempted traffic stop and was Tased after refusing to comply with officers’ orders. A similar situation occurred on May 4 involving the Iowa State Patrol and the Greene and Carroll County Sheriff’s Offices. He was arrested a third time on May 14 for operating a snowmobile with a barred driver’s license. Third-degree criminal mischief charges are also pending against Dzuris in Greene County District Court stemming from a separate arrest on Nov. 1.
