Slick Road Conditions Cause Two-Vehicle Accident Near Panora Tuesday Morning

No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident on Highway 4 north of Panora this (Tuesday) morning. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene near the intersection with 200th Street at approximately 10:50 a.m. According to law enforcement, a 1998 Chevrolet pickup, driven by 62-year-old Gary Dean Geopfert of Linden, was travelling northbound on Highway 4 and started to slow down for a turn onto 200th. A 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 24-year-old Danielle Ann Schwartz of Guthrie Center, was also traveling northbound behind the Geopfert truck. Slick road conditions prevented Schwartz from braking for the slowing vehicle, resulting in a collision. The Equinox sustained disabling damage estimated at $6,500. Damage to the pickup is estimated at $2,000, but it was able to be driven from the scene.
