A Rippey woman accused of felony drug possession in Carroll County District Court is scheduled to go to trial at the beginning of spring. According to court documents, 52-year-old Becky Sue Mitchell is charged with third or subsequent offense possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony. The charge stems from a traffic stop by the Carroll Police Department on July 17, 2020. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit also responded to the stop, and K9 Ruger alerted to the presence of narcotics. A follow-up search of the vehicle located four plastic baggies containing methamphetamine. Mitchell filed a written not guilty plea to the charge Thursday, and her trial is scheduled to begin Tuesday, March 23. A pretrial conference is slated for March 11. Mitchell faces up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines if convicted.
