Coon Rapids Bayard 48

Grand View Christian 40

The Crusaders played their best game of the year and used an 18-0 run to start the 4th quarter to pick up their 5th win of the season. The run to start the 4th quarter answered a spurt at the end of the 3rd that had Grand View Christian up by 5. The Thunder scored the final 6 points of the 3rd quarter on back to back 3’s to rally after Coon Rapids Bayard led by 6 at half. Brynn Bass was huge in the 1st half with 3-3’s and 14 points. She helped spark the 4th quarter rally after Miranda Garcia blocked a 3 point shot and Alaya Betts rebounded and kicked it ahead to Bass who spun between a pair of defenders for the layup. Bass then blocked a 3 point attempt and Miranda Garcia pulled down the rebound which led to a 3 from Mia Leighty who hit back to back 3’s. Garcia was huge on defense, taking a pair of charges.

Brynn Bass led the team with 20 points and 4 steals, Alaya Betts had 10 points and 9 rebounds while Miranda Garcia pulled down a team high 12 rebounds. Mia Leighty added 4 steals.

The win moved the Crusaders to 5-7 overall as they head back into Rolling Valley Conference play on Tuesday at West Harrison. They currently sit at 3-7 in the Conference.

Glidden Ralston 25

Glidden Ralston handled the full court press well and did a nice job working against the 1-3-1 in the half court but couldn’t get shots to fall. CAM Anita on the other hand came out on fire hitting 5-3’s on their way to scoring 26 points and leading by 16 after the 1st quarter. The Cougars were able to find mid-range jumpers for their post players after the Wildcats had adjusted to the three point shots. The Wildcats defense didn’t play poorly as the Cougars hit just 26% from the field but nailed 8 contested 3’s in the 1st half.  The Wildcats trailed but 22 at half and were never able to make a run.

Gretchen Wallace led the offensive attack with 10 points, Morgan Koehler and Kim Daily each finished with 5 points.

The Wildcats fell to 8-7 overall and 6-6 in the Rolling Valley Conference. They host Paton Churdan on Tuesday.
