Terry Lubeck, 71, of Fort Dodge, IA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.
The family will be receiving friends for a public viewing at the Farber & Ottoman Funeral Home at 1120 W Main Street in Sac City, IA, from 9:30 to 11:00AM Monday, February 8, with a service to celebrate the life of Terry beginning at 11:00. Reverend Missy Brown will be presiding over the remembrance.
Terry was born on August 27, 1949, in Sac City, IA, to Kenneth and Doris Lubeck. He attended elementary and high school in Sac City. Terry always had a love of horses, motorcycles, and cars. After a year of college, he began operating a filling station in Cherokee, IA. He was then drafted and joined the United States Army. Terry received his basic training at Fort Lewis, Washington and upon completion of basic training, he received additional training before being deployed to South Vietnam. Before serving nearly a year in Southeast Asia, Terry was brought home upon the death of his father. The remainder of his Army career was spent serving on Army bases in Kansas.
After his military service, Terry moved to Storm Lake, IA, to attend Buena Vista College where he received his degree. During this time, Terry was diagnosed with symptoms of PTSD. This condition made it difficult to pursue and maintain an extended career. After receiving a military disability, Terry continued to live in Storm Lake. Later, he moved to Fort Dodge until the time of his death.
Throughout his life, he had a love for hot cars. Although he drove a Corvair in high school and VW Bug in college, the pride in his life was his 1968 Z-28 Camaro. More recently Terry took great pride in his 2017 Camaro Super Sport. Terry never met a person that he could not immediately strike up a conversation with. His outgoing personality and easy-going nature allowed him to make and keep many friends from the people he met.
He also enjoyed playing the piano. Terry would play for his own enjoyment and for enjoyment of others where he stayed.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Doris Lubeck and by his brother Kim.
