The Carroll Tigers were able to make a bad situation better in the second half against the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs, but were unable to come back and win. The Tigers first half performance was rough as they would go 1-11 from behind the arc and only shoot 5-27 overall. The Monarchs would lead on their leading scorer Hannah Neemann to bring them to a 27-15 halftime lead. Kennedy Lein was the leading scorer for the Tigers in the first half scoring 10 of the Tiger’s 15 points.
In the second half, the Tigers had a large amount of work to do in order to pull this game back in their favor. While they did become more effective from the field, they would fall short and be down 10 points going into the fourth quarter with a score of 38-28. The Tigers fought hard in the final frame of play, as they would score a game high 23 points, partially thanks to Kennedy Lein’s strong fourth quarter performance. She would score eight points in the fourth quarter and played with a lot of intensity. Yet, despite the Tiger’s best efforts, the Monarchs would be able to get the win thanks to nine trips to the free throw line where they would go 19 of 21. The Denison-Schleswig Monarchs would squeak by and win this contest 59-51.
Individually for the Tigers, Kennedy Lein would lead her team with 20 points. Gabi Hammer and Ella Collison would both score in the double digits with 14 and 10 points respectively. The Tigers fall to 8-10 on the season as the Monarch improve to 16-2.
The Tigers are in action next when they travel to Carlisle on Tuesday, February 9th. Nick Brincks will be broadcasting that contest over on 93.7 KKRL beginning with pre-game coverage around 5:50.

Kuemper struggled with pressure from Heelan, having a hard time getting good looks as they fell down early and trailed the whole ballgame. The loss drops Kuemper to 5-14 overall. The Knights were down by 10 at the end of the 1st quarter and 13 at half. Their best quarter was the final quarter, scoring 12 points. The defense played pretty well but the turnovers against the pressure didn’t allow them to get the defense set as often as they needed.
Kora Thomsen had a team high 8 points and Catherine Mayhall finished with 7 points.
The Knights return to action on Monday when they host OA-BCIG.

Great win for Ar-We-Va on Saturday as they rally to knock off a team that spent part of the season ranked in the top 15. The Rockets had a nice defensive game holding the Panthers to under 10 points in 3 of the 4 quarters including the 4th when they rallied from down 6. The Rockets offense began to click in the 2nd half. They trailed by 2 at the half after scoring just 2 points in the 2nd quarter. Jadeyn Smith began to warm up and Hannah Kraus and Sara Schurke were able to find here. The Rockets scored 13 points in the 3rd quarter but still found themselves down 29-23 heading into the final stanza.
Jadeyn Smith led the way with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks, Sara Schurke added 6 points and 6 rebounds and Hannah Kraus had a team high 4 assists. Bridget Cameron added 6 rebounds.
The Rockets improved to 4-15 on the season as they head into a post season matchup at Paton Churdan on Tuesday.

The Titans ran into a buzzsaw as Spencer came out hot, hitting 7-3’s in the 1st quarter on their way to a 33-9 lead. The Titans didn’t get out quick enough on the shooters early and Spencer took advantage. South Central Calhoun settled in after that and played very even the rest of the game winning the 2nd quarter. They weren’t able to overcome the trouble in the 1st quarter and fall to 13-6 on the season.
Sayer Steig had a very good day with a team high 12 points and leading them with 10 rebounds. Riley Batta added 10 points and 7 rebound and Emma Anderson had 7 points and a team high 5 assists.
The Titans return to action on Monday when they travel to Pocahontas Area.

The Wheelers won their 5th straight and got a historical moment from Aleah Hermansen and another big game from Jaci Christensen in the process. The Wheelers have been one of the hottest teams in the area down the stretch and that continued Saturday. The battled with the Cougars before pulling away down the stretch to win by 5. Audubon trailed by one after the 1st and 3rd quarters and led by one at half.
Aleah Hermansen needed just 4 points to top 1,000 for her career. She hit the milestone as she finished with 14 points, Jaci Christensen led the way in the win with 27 points and 10 rebounds, Katelyn Nielsen chipped in with 7 points.
The win moves the Wheelers to 13-7 overall as they head back ton conference play Monday with Missouri Valley coming to town.

East Sac grabbed their 2nd win in a row and had to fight and scrap to pull out the 6-point win on the road. The Raiders held West Bend Mallard to just 2 points in the 1st quarter and 7 for the half but only led by 6 at the break. The defense was outstanding and took the pressure off the offense where only four girls scored. They didn’t take many shots and were just able to work the ball around thanks in how well the defense played.
Maty Quirk led the way with 18 points while Maty Bontrager finished with 8 points, Meredith Brown had a team high 8 rebounds.
The win improves the Raiders to 7-11 overall and 4-6 in the Twin Lakes Conference. East Sac will host South Central Calhoun on KIKD 106.7 Tuesday.
