The Carroll City Council will be hearing a presentation from the Carroll Historical Preservation Commission on Monday night. Following that, agenda items include an amended resolution for an error on a city subdivision plat. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver explains.
This, he says, is a minor issue and the council has previously been made aware of the error. The council will also sit in on a presentation for action on cemetery grave discover software.
If approved, this will go live on the city’s website as early as next week. There is a time constraint on the plans now in process for the city’s new street maintenance facility. Pogge-Weaver says they need to make a determination on one of the bid alternates, a two-ton bridge crane, in order to move ahead with building design.
Pogge-Weaver says there are three options for the council. They can proceed as is with engineered specifications that may work with bridge crane. However, there are no guarantees from the manufacturer the crane will integrate or that it won’t be redesigned. Option two is saying no, they will not go ahead and that will be a reduction in steel costs of about $19,000. However, if they decide in the future they want to install the crane, the cost will be substantially higher than the estimated $48,200 if the council agrees to include it at this time. Pogge-Weaver says there is a contingency of a little more than $200,000 that would cover that added cost. He says the staff recommendation is to approve the inclusion of the crane now instead of later. Monday’s meeting will begin at 5:15 p.m. but remains closed to the general public.
