If you have never been turkey hunting, or if you are looking to hone your limited skill set, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is inviting you to join them in a two-part virtual turkey hunting course. Staff members with the National Wild Turkey Federation will be providing instruction for both courses. Attendees will learn turkey history, about their habitat, behaviors as well as the hunting regulations, safety procedures and gear needed during the first course. The second will provide instruction on hunting strategies and tactics, calling, field dressing and tips and recipes for cooking your harvest. The courses are designed for those 16 and older. Those under 16 must have an adult registered and participating in the course with them. The sessions will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on March 16 and march 23. Space is limited for the Zoom program, so preregistration is encouraged. This can be done by following the links below. Participants are not required to attend both courses.
