11 Area Wrestlers Clinch Trip to State Wrestling; Full Wrestling Results

District Wrestling Results Saturday, February 13th

Carroll at Class 3A District 3 at Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln

 

The Carroll TIgers would see themselves sending four individuals to the state wrestling tournament during the Class 3A District 3 wrestling tournament on Saturday. The Tigers as a team would finish in fourth place behind Valley, West Des Moines, Norwalk, and Indianola with 148 points. While many wrestlers would come close to nabbing a spot in the state wrestling tournament, only four would arise in the top two. 

Cael Nelson would end his day with a second place finish and a spot in the state tournament. He would go 3-0 in matches wrestled in the 106 pound weight class, winning those matches via a 6-2 decision and by fall. Jaxson Kuhlmann was also able to punch his ticket to the state wrestling tournament with a 3-0 day in the 126 pound weight class. He would win his first two matches via fall and win the 1st place match via a 5-2 decision. Carter Drake would finish in second in the 138 pound weight class and will head to the state tournament. He would go 3-0 in matches wrestled, winning by fall, sudden victory, and decision. Finally, Abraham Dirkx rounded out the individuals for Carroll heading to the state tournament. He would go 2-0 in matches wrestled, winning the semifinal match by fall, and winning the 1st place match by a 2-0 decision. 

Cole Miller would go 1-2 and finish in 3rd with a win by fall. Shane McGowan would go 0-2 on the day. Cooper Ludwig would finish in 3rd place and go 2-2 with both wins coming via fall. Jireh Gallegos would finish in third place with a record of 2-2, winning via sudden victory and decision. Kamden Robinson would finish in 6th place and go 0-2 on the day. Justin Riesburg would finish his day with a 0-2 record. Cade Schable would finish in 4th place and go 1-2 on the day with his win coming via fall. Finally, Tyson Bordenaro would finish in 4th place going 1-2 on the day with a victory via fall.

Kuemper at 2A Districts at Heelan

While the Kuemper Knights would finish in the bottom portion of the team scores, they were able to get one wrestler to the state tournament on Saturday. The Knights finished in 10th place at the 2A District Wrestling meet with 22 team points. The highlight on the day was their one wrestler who was able to finish in the top two and secure his place in the state tournament.

 

Shea Parkis would end his day in second place and go 2-1 on the day. Parkis’ victories came via a 6-3 decision in the semifinal match and would be called a no contest in the second place match since Parkis defeated Jaxson Rozeboom in the semifinal match. Parkis will be the only wrestler from Kuemper heading to the state wrestling tournament.

 

Riley Parkis would finish in fourth place with a record of 0-2. Jake Hausman would finish in fourth place going 0-2. Finally Cal Wanniger would finish in third place with a 1-2 record, winning his match via fall.

Audubon, South Central Calhoun, East Sac, and Coon Rapids Bayard at 1A Districts at AC-GC

South Central Calhoun sent three wrestlers to state on Saturday with all three claiming championships. Kevin King went 2-0 at 145 with a win by major decision and another by fall. Joining King at the Well will be Blake McAlister and Jayden Soard. McAlister went 2-0 winning the district title at 170 with both wins by fall. Soard was the 200 champion with both of his wins by fall. Zachary Trott went 0-2 at 152, Jaydon Maschke fnished 3rd at 160 going 1-2 with a win by fall. The Titans were 2nd overall in the team standings with 76 points.

East Sac had two wrestlers qualify for the district meet and both will head to the state tournament. Garrett Quirk finished his day going 2-1 with a win by fall for a 2nd place finish at 160. Justin Rupnow continued his strong season with a 1-1 day at 285. Rupnow will head to state after picking up his win by fall. The Raiders finished 9th with 28 points.

Cooper Nielsen fought his way to the state tournament and won the wrestle back match by fall to advance as the runnerup in the district. He finished the day going 2-1 with both of his wins by fall. Javyn Bladt took 3rd for the Wheelers with a 1-1 day. He won his 3rd place match but didn’t have an opportunity to wrestle back. Bladt picked up his win by fall. Audubon finished 10th with 25 points.

It was a rough day for Coon Rapids Bayard with three wrestlers at the district. Kale Pevestorf and Aaron McAlister both finished 3rd. Pevestorf went 1-2 at 195 and lost in the wrestle back. McAlister was 1-1 at 220 and didn’t get a chance to wrestle back. Josue Rameriz was the third Crusader at the district and he finished 4th going 0-2 at 285. Coon Rapids Bayard took 12th place with 19 points.
