Carroll County Public Health Details Vaccine Dose Expectations And Distribution And Closing Of Test Iowa Sites

Director of Carroll County Public Health, Nicole Schwering, says they are anticipating delivery of 300 Moderna COVID-19 vaccine doses for each of the next two weeks that will be assigned to the St. Anthony and McFarland Clinics in Carroll and Manning Regional Healthcare Center. These clinics will once again contact patients directly to schedule appointments as they continue administration to those age 75 and older and non-healthcare essential workers, as identified in phase 1B. This includes five school districts, four law enforcement agencies and multiple child care facilities who have been tasked with prioritizing their staff by those most at risk. Schwering also reports the State of Iowa is moving ahead with plans to phase out several Test Iowa sites as demand for testing at these sites is declining with testing more readily available at pharmacies and primary care provider offices. The two regional sites, located at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll and the St. Anthony Clinic in Denison, will close as of Friday, Feb. 26. Carroll County residents can contact their doctor’s office to schedule testing and the Carroll Walgreens has also been identified as a testing site. As of 7 a.m. today (Monday), there is only one county in the region with double digit two-week positivity rates as Crawford County is third highest in the state at 13 percent.
