Officers with the Carroll Police Department responded to two accidents over the course of the weekend. The first occurred at approximately 8:55 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of W. 4th Street. Thirty-year-old Taylor Sporrer of Carroll was westbound on 4th Street in a 2020 Ford Explorer when he lost control of the vehicle. He struck a city light pole, knocking it to the ground. There was no report of injuries, but Sporrer was cited for failure to maintain control. The second accident was reported at approximately 9:47 a.m. Saturday morning at U.S. Highway 30 and Grant Road. Fifty-one-year-old Jeffrey Hugeback of Halbur was northbound on Grant Road in a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado. Twenty-six-year-old Lucas Wolfe of Carroll was traveling eastbound on Highway 30 in a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, but failed to stop for a red light. He entered the intersection and was struck in the passenger side by the Hugeback vehicle, causing functional damage to both. Wolfe was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
