Eligah Newkirk of Carroll, formerly of Red Oak

Eligah Cole Ryan Newkirk, age 25, of Carroll, IA, and formerly of Red Oak, IA, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at his home in Carroll.

     A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll Rev. Len Taylor of The Bridge in Red Oak officiating.  Casket bearers will be Mikle Reed, Brandon Kammerer, John Hausen, Jacob Bond, Adam Stevens, and Shawn Kammerer.  Burial will be in the Flint Cemetery in Griswold, IA.

     Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. on Saturday prior to the service.  Those in attendance at Eligah’s Service are asked to abide by Covid-19 guidelines and facemasks are required at the funeral home.

     Eligah was born on February 27, 1995 in Ft. Collins, CO, and he was the son of Jeb Bond and Heather Newkirk.  He grew up in Red Oak and graduated from Southwest Valley High School in Corning in 2014.  Eligah was a People to People student ambassador in junior high traveling to Australia and New Zealand.  Following high school he attended Iowa Western Community College for electrical engineering.  He was married to Elizabeth Hausen on May 25, 2016 in Clarinda, IA.  The couple made their home in Clarinda and to this union was born a son Abel.  Eligah moved to Carroll in 2018 and worked for the Graphic Edge.  He enjoyed puzzles, Marvel Universe Movies, bowling, diamond paintings, and solving the Rubik’s Cube in record time even behind his back.  The light of Eligah’s life was his son Abel.

     Eligah is survived by his wife Liz and his son Abel of Carroll; his mother Heather Newkirk (Shawn) of Red Oak; his father Jeb Bond (Crystal) of Paltsmouth, NE; his in-laws John and Jane Hausen of Villisca, IA; his great-grandmother Goldie Adams of Red Oak, IA; his grandmothers Valerie Newkirk (Donald Hummell) and Marcia Bond; his siblings: Sabrina, Brandon, Alexis “Sissy” Kammerer and Jordyn, Jacob, and Jersey Bond; and many other extended family members.  Eligah is also survived by his cats Ralph and Elsa who he dearly loved.  Eligah was preceded in death by his great-great grandmother Bessie Juhl.
