An Alta woman charged with burglary following a January incident has been scheduled for trial near the end of April. According to Carroll County District Court records, 42-year-old Kristal Lynn Miller filed a not guilty plea to the class C felony charge last week and waived her right to a speedy trial. An order signed by a judge Friday sets jury proceedings to begin Tuesday, April 27 with a pretrial conference slated for April 19. Miller was arrested by the Carroll Police Department on Jan. 23 following an investigation into a reported incident the prior evening. Authorities say Miller entered a home in the 200 block of E. 10th Street and assaulted two adult occupants, causing them to fear for their and their children’s safety. She faces a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines if found guilty of the charge.
