Lake City Library Reopens To Public With Some Precautions Still In Place

The Lake City Library reopened to foot traffic last week after being closed to the public for nearly 10 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The library has not offered in-person services since March 2020 in an effort to stem the spread of the coronavirus and protect patrons and staff. As of yesterday (Monday) afternoon, Calhoun County’s seven-day positivity rate is two percent with only five new cases identified. With rates in the county and the region on the decline, City Administrator, Eric Wood, says the library board of trustees is ready to reopen. Their plan requires all patrons and staff to wear a face covering while inside the building. The library began providing some limited in-person services about two months ago, but those were allowed by appointment only and underutilized.
