Provost at Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC) Carroll campus, Dr. Joel Lundstrom, is one of four DMACC employees to be recognized by the school’s Diversity Commission. The 2021 Tapestry Award was presented to Lundstrom not only for his positive interactions with the student body, but also for energizing his staff through professional development opportunities such as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), the “We Include” year-long DEI speaker series and a 21-day United Way Equity Challenge. The Tapestry Award was created to recognize individuals whose character embodies a welcoming spirit, contributes to the culture of valuing diversity and promoting awareness at DMACC and who engage in activities and events in the community. Lundstrom received the award from DMACC Diversity Commission Vice Co-Chairs Bethany Sweeney and Ronn Newby.
