The City of Carroll has announced that the annual registration for rental housing property owners is now open. All units are required to be registered by March 31, and as an added incentive, those who owned rental property as of Dec. 1, 2020 and submit the form before the deadline will have their first permit valid for two years. Permits after those two years and those for which applications are received after March 31 will be valid for one year only. Individuals who purchased a rental unit after Dec. 2, 2020 will receive a one-year permit. This is in accordance with the City of Carroll’s newly adopted rental housing code program that went into effect Dec. 1 of last year. The code is intended to ensure public health and safety through annual licensing of all rental dwellings and regular periodic inspections. This is also designed to assure that existing structures that do not comply with the code will be repaired as required.
