Fundraising For Proposed Addition To Audubon Rec Center Underway

A subcommittee has been formed and fundraising campaign launched for an 86-foot by 110-foot expansion to the Audubon Recreation Center. The addition on the east side of the current facility will include a full-size basketball court that can be divided into two courts. They are also exploring walking track options around the perimeter of the building. With this addition, they will be able to repurpose the existing basketball space to house weight and exercise equipment. “We are extremely excited for the new addition and believe this project will complement the existing facility, offering additional amenities for members as well [as] driving additional business to the Bull Pin Restaurant,” subcommittee members wrote in a letter to the community. “We envision many youth basketball and volleyball tournaments in the coming years being hosted at this facility. A walking track would ensure a safe walking environment that could also allow for spectator seating at tournaments. Weight and exercise equipment will be added benefit for every membership.” The project is being launched with $150,000 in commitments from private donors. In addition to donations, the subcommittee will pursue available grant opportunities. An estimate and renderings for the entirety of the project are being developed and those details will be released at a future date. Those interested in supporting the effort can get more information by contacting a subcommittee member, a full listing of which is included below.
