Our local Pioneer Collegiate Baseball League boys of summer will not be taking to the diamond in 2021. On Thursday, the managing directors for the Carroll Merchants Baseball Club announced the very difficult decision to suspend play for this season had been made. The initial plan was to enter a new league for the team to grow and prosper here this year, but they faced scheduling conflicts with both high school teams at historic Merchant Park, making that move impossible. The directors collectively thanked the players and staff members, sponsors, fans and host families, saying they will definitely miss making baseball memories during this summer. However, they say they will continue to work to bring America’s favorite pastime back to Merchants Park in 2022 and beyond.
