Investigation Into Accidental Firearm Discharge Leads To Carroll Man’s Arrest On Drug Charge

A Carroll man accused of felony drug possession was taken into custody this week following an investigation into reports of a gunshot at a Carroll duplex near the end of 2020. At approximately 8:26 p.m. on Dec. 29, law enforcement was dispatched to the 900 block of Woodland Drive in response to the gunfire. Officers made contact with one of the duplex’s residents and were allowed to search the home. Authorities say 28-year-old Dustin Duane Hill was located in an upstairs bedroom with a plastic baggie containing 9.25 grams of methamphetamine and a measuring scale. A firearm that had been reported stolen from a nearby residence was also recovered at the scene. Hill was taken into custody Thursday for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a class B felony. Additional charges against Hill are pending further investigation. He remains in custody at the Carroll County jail on a $25,000 bond. Hill’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday, March 22.
