The Carroll Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has announced the annual Chamber Banquet will not be taking place in 2021. Instead, two years of honorees will receive awards in 2022. Continued uncertainty about the COVID-19 pandemic was the leading reason for the cancellation of this year’s banquet, that is traditionally held in February. “There was a lot of discussion and it’s just tough to get something done this year,” says Chamber President, Tim Gute. “It’s an important program and part of our heritage and we’d like to recognize two sets of honorees in 2022.” Chamber Executive Director, Shannon Landauer, says though there were alternative options for this spring, they did not feel it would do justice to the recipients and the outstanding contributions they make to the community. “For this reason, we have decided to wait until we can enjoy a full banquet ceremony versus hosting an abbreviated version,” she says. The Chamber is continuing to accept nominations for the 2020 community service awards that include Citizen of the Year, Humanitarian, Public Service and Good Neighbor. Nominations can be made for the business awards in the categories of New Business and Heritage Business. Nominations should be submitted by May 15 to the mail and email addresses included below.
