As was the case last week, motor fuels and one home heating fuel saw increases across the state while propane and natural gas prices declined. According to AAA Iowa, as of Wednesday regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.81, up $.02 cents from last week and $.78 higher than this time last year. The national average is $2.88, up $.06 from last week. Retail diesel prices went up $.07 to a statewide average of $3.13, which is $.03 higher than the national average and $.62 higher than last year. Ethanol was up by a penny, now at $1.80 per gallon. While propane and natural gas fell, $.12 and $.13 respectively, home heating oil was up $.03 over the past week to an average of $2.66 per gallon. Propane is now at $1.64 per gallon and natural gas is at $2.54 per MMbtu.
