A Carroll man awaiting sentencing in the Carroll County jail for a burglary conviction now faces two more felony charges after a jailer discovered he was manufacturing improvised weapons while in custody. Thirty-year-old Brice Edward Shrimpton was found guilty of second-degree burglary, a class C felony, following a February jury trial. While waiting for sentencing, authorities say he crafted weapons on two separate occasions. The first was discovered during a Feb. 23 cell search, which located an approximately eight-inch piece of plexiglass that had been sharpened to a point with an edge. Another weapon was located on March 14. Authorities say Shrimpton had sharpened his toothbrush into a shiv. He has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon in a correctional institution, a class C felony, and faces an additional 20 years in prison and $20,000 in fines if convicted.
