Earlier this week, Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) announced a $1.7 million capital campaign for renovations at the seven-year-old facility. CEO, Linn Block, says plans had been in the works for more than year, but a recent nearly $300,000 endowment gift from the late Leana and Donald Kalkhoff of Templeton provided a solid foundation to that campaign.
The money raised will be used to create a dedicated space for the award-winning Senior Life Solutions program that provides group therapy to seniors dealing with age-related depression and anxiety. Block says they are set to start renovations mid-April with completion in October. The space will house a group therapy room and staff offices. Block explains their plan for the future of the program.
When not serving seniors, the space can be used for counseling of clients in the Recovery Center. Block says they are also exploring a collaborative program.
Another part of the renovation includes an update to the hospital pharmacy.
Block says the work on the air handling system for the pharmacy opens another opportunity to create a dedicated space for patient services.
Block explains that negative pressure is recommended for anyone admitted that has a contagious respiratory infection, such as COVID-19. As more and more people get vaccinated and gatherings become more common, the capital campaign committee will be working on presentations for specific groups. They are also applying for several grant opportunities. Anyone wanting more information on how to make a donation can call the hospital at 712-655-2072.
