Western Iowa Networks Is One Of 14 Companies To Receive Funding For Broadband Projects

Breda Telephone Company (BTC), who operates under the name Western Iowa Networks (WIN), is one of 14 recipients out of 42 applications to receive a portion of $15 million in broadband CARES Act funds. They have received $1,530,621.90 for their Glenwood south project. “The COVID-19 pandemic only underscored the need for fast, reliable and accessible broadband,” says Gov., Kim Reynolds. “This investment goes directly to projects that are in significant broadband deserts. While today’s allocation will help improve broadband in more communities, we can do better,” she adds. “Iowa must have universal broadband access to compete and succeed in the 21st century, which is why I’m working with the legislature for significant funding over the next three years that will ensure access for all Iowans by 2025.” The $15 million allocation is the remainder of the $50 million in CARES Act funding the governor designated for broadband grants from a previous round.
