Guthrie County K9 Gets Gift Of Protection Through Non-Profit Organization

The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office K9, Dart, is getting new protective equipment thanks to a non-profit charitable organization’s recent donations. Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. of Taunton, Mass., is helping Diane Schaaf of Raleigh, NC outfit Dart with a bullet and stab-protective vest. This will come embroidered with the sentiment, “This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.” The potentially life-saving body armor is U.S. made, custom fitted and National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certified. The vest will be delivered to Guthrie County in about eight to 10 weeks. Since its inception in 2019, the charitable organization has presented more than 4,210 K9 ballistic vests, 1,300 K9 opioid reversal NARCAN kits, paid more than $178,000 in K9 medical insurance premiums through the Healthcare for K9 Heroes program, distributed over $73,000 worth of K9 medical first aid kits and presented three K9 custom fitted Chevrolet Tahoe patrol vehicles, valued at more than $50,000 each. Tax deductible donations can be made to the 501(c)(3) organization in any amount, with a single donation of $960 to sponsor one vest that is actually valued at between $1,744 to $2,283.
