Jefferson PD Deals With SUV/Deer And Hit-And-Run Accidents Tuesday

The Jefferson Police Department responded to two accidents Tuesday. The first involved an SUV and a deer in the 1600 block of North Elm Street at approximately 6:43 a.m. Jessica Wenger of Jefferson was southbound on Elm in a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe when she struck a deer that crossed in front of her vehicle. There were no injuries but an estimated $5,000 in damage to the Tahoe. Officers are continuing an investigation into a hit-and-run accident that was reported at approximately 8:40 a.m. in the 500 block of South Olive Street. A 2005 Mitsubishi Galant was legally parked on the street when another vehicle sideswiped it as they travelled north. There was an estimated $3,000 in damage to the Galant and officials are searching for the other vehicle involved.
