Kuemper At Carroll High Early Bird
The high school track season in the local area finally got underway on Thursday as the Carroll Tigers hosted their early bird meet on a cloudy but comfortable afternoon that saw the temperature dip as the evening unfolded and also had a few raindrops but everyone was still excited to have the spring sports season started.
Glenwood claimed the team title with 159 points, holding off Harlan and Carroll High as the Cyclones took 2nd with 138 points and Carroll was 3rd with 101 points. Kuemper finished in sixth place out of eight teams with 36 points.

Shay Sinnard of Carroll High had a good night taking 1st place in the Long Jump with her best jump at 15-07.50, she won the 100 Meters in 13.22 and was part of the winning 4×200 team along with Hannah Jorgensen, Libby Perkins and Kennedy Thein. They won the 4×200 in 1:54.55. Sinnard, Thein and Jorgensen teamed up with Alex Klein to finish 2nd in the 4×100 in 53.51. Kenzie Schon of Kuemper finished 1st in the shot put with her best throw at 39-00.00. Josie Ayala of Carroll High took 2nd in the long jump, just behind Sinnard, with her best jump at 15-03.50. Hannah Jorgensen of Carroll High did a nice job in her individual events taking 1st in the 200 Meters in 27.67. Marie Dea was another champion for Carroll High, winning the 1500 meters in 5:45.37. Madison Tunning of Carroll High was 2nd in the 100 Hurdles in 17.96.
