Woman Charged Following Aug. Stabbing Incident Sentenced Thursday In Carroll County District Court

A Carroll woman arrested in August for allegedly stabbing another woman with a knife was sentenced today (Thursday) in Carroll County District Court. As part of an agreement with prosecutors, 25-year-old Rae Beth Horton, who has also reported a residence in Sac City, pled guilty to assault, a simple misdemeanor. She was ordered to serve seven days in the Carroll County jail with credit for time served. The sentence will run concurrent to a seven-day sentence out of Ida County for violation of a no contact order. Horton was arrested during the early morning hours of Aug. 17 at a home in the 900 block on North East Street in Carroll. Authorities say Horton stabbed the victim in the shoulder after a verbal confrontation. The victim reported Horton had also chased her with an axe prior to the officer’s arrival. Horton was convicted in Sac County District Court in February of willful injury causing bodily injury, a class D felony, for allegedly stabbing a 26-year-old Sac City man on Sept. 22, 2020. In that case, she was sentenced to three-years of probation.
