Twelve area community projects have been gifted paint through the 2021 Paint Iowa Beautiful program. The annual partnership between Diamond Vogel and Keep Iowa Beautiful has provided more than 11,860 gallons of paint for 1,132 projects in the past 18 years. “The Paint Iowa Beautiful program helps us increase our assistance to neighborhoods and communities in improving the attractiveness and beauty of where we live,” says Keep Iowa Beautiful Executive Director, Kevin Techau. “These projects definitely improve the beauty of Iowa, its countryside and its communities.” Local recipients include: Audubon County Tourism for a butterfly mural on Main street; Carroll County 4-H for painting in various public areas; Operation Paint Brush in Denison for homes in need of painting; the Women in Business group of Denison for Washington Park; the City of Elk Horn for the pool house; Jefferson Matters: Main Street and the Chamber for the Main Street district building; Lake City’s Central School Preservation committee to paint weather damaged areas and playground equipment; the City of Lohrville for use at the JJ Hands Library and city maintenance garage; the City of Manning for use on a variety of homes; the Panora Lions Club to paint gable ends and facia trim boards; the Calhoun County Historical Society of Rockwell City for use at the Calhoun County Musuem; and the Sac City Chamber and Main Street organization to use on local homes in need of paint.
