Coon Rapids Bayard, East Sac, Glidden Ralston and IKM-Manning At South Central Calhoun Chelsey Henkenius Early Bird

There were no team scores kept during the annual Chelsey Henkenius Early Bird at Lake City but all of the local teams had good success in a number of events. The kids fought through a tough wind that was its toughest on the curve on the west end of the track. The temperature couldn’t have been much better as the kids and coaches were excited to be back at it after last season was lost due to Covid-19.

Cole Corey of South Central Calhoun was outstanding winning two individual events and taking 2^nd in another. Corey won the High Jump at 6-00 and the 110 Hurdles in 16.53 while finishing 2^nd in the 400 Hurdles in 59.38. Drew Doyel of IKM-Manning took 2^nd in the Long Jump with his best jump at 19-06. East Sac Raider Justin Rupnow had a best of 43-10.50 in the Shot Put which was good enough for 2^nd place. Gabe Obert of Coon Rapids Bayard also had a big night taking 2^nd in the 100 Meters at 11.61 while being part of the 4×100 and 4×200 teams that finished 2^nd. The 4×100 ran a 46.60 with Easton Hays, Omarion Floyd, Tanner Oswald and Obert. Those four ran the 4×200 in 1:38.39.

Quentin Dreyer of IKM-Manning started what should be a great season for him taking 1^st in both the 1600 Meters and 3200 Meters. He ran the 1600 in 5:11.16 and the 3200 Meters in 11:21.17. Dreyer was also 2^nd in the 800 Meters in 2:16.22. The Wolves went 1^st and 2^nd in the 1600 Meters with Lane Sams taking 2^nd in 5:18.10. IKM-Manning was also strong in the hurdles with Liam Carter winning the 400 Hurdles in 59.14 and finishing 2^nd in the 110 Hurdles at 17.33. Glidden Ralston was led by Brigham Daniel who won the 200 Meters in 22.14 and the 400 Meters in 53.50. Daniel was part of the winning Sprint Medley along with Karter Kennebeck, Carter Soyer and Carter Scott. They ran a 1:40.84.

East Sac was the champion in the Shuttle Hurdle with Alex Hauser, CJ Frank, Will Munger and Ace Thelen. They won the event with a 1:11.39. IKM-Manning showed their depth in the distance races taking 2^nd in the 4×800 in 9:29.84 with Luke Ramsey, Hunter Smith, Lane Sams and Reed Hinners.
