Sac City Woman Leaves More Than $900,000 For Six Local Organizations

Six Sac City organizations have been gifted a total of more than $900,000 as the beneficiaries of a Sac City woman’s estate. Joan Wilkerson passed away in February of 2020 and her husband, Marvin, died in 2002. The Wilkersons operated Marjo’s Flowers in Sac City from 1967 to 2000. The couple did not have any children, but they were a common sight throughout the community for many years. Joan was active at the local museum and served on the board for First Christian Church, participated in the Sac Education Foundation and Loring Hospital Auxiliary. The Sac City Museum was gifted $280,000. Loring Hospital and Loring Hospice were each left $187,000 while First Christian Church, the Sac City Aquatic Center and Sac City Public Library each received $93,000. The funds will be used by the respective organizations to maintain and improve upon operations and support proposed improvements where required. Her dedication to Sac City and its residents was well-known even before her passing, as she was inducted into the Sac Community Hall of Fame in 2004.
