Carroll County Engineer, Zac Andersen, has received approval from the Board of Supervisors to move a hot mix asphalt (HMA) project proposed for several years from now to the list for 2021.
Instead of the farm-to-market funds, this project will now use local allocations. Andersen explains the scope of the project west of Halbur on pavement he says has served its purpose well over the past 27 to 28 years.
There is limited space and it would take significant construction to be able to widen the shoulders in this area, so that will not be included in the design. The plans have been reviewed and approved and the project has been put out to bid.
The bids will then be brought to the Carroll County Board of Supervisors for review and acceptance. Andersen says the work will involve a couple days of milling, maybe a week of paving and then a couple of days of shoulder work; a pretty quick project for most contractors, he says. Initial indications are work could begin as early as mid-May.
