Coon Rapids Man Pleads Guilty To Harassment and Stalking Charges

A Coon Rapids man accused of stalking and harassment was sentenced last week in Carroll County District Court. According to court records, 40-year-old Kaleb Wayne Wiles reached an agreement with prosecutors and pled guilty to both aggravated misdemeanor charges. Wiles was sentenced to two years of incarceration for each count and ordered to pay over $1,800 in fines, surcharges and courts costs. In exchange for his guilty plea, the prison sentences and a portion of the fines were suspended, and Wiles was instead placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. He was also found to have violated the terms of his probation from a Sept. 16, 2020 conviction for second-degree harassment and assault on a peace officer, both serious misdemeanors. Wiles was found to be in contempt but the court declined to approve a request for probation revocation. The more recent charges stemmed from an incident on May 13, 2020 near the intersection of 4th Avenue and Main Street in Coon Rapids. Authorities say Wiles blocked the victim in with his car and threatened to kill them, causing the individual to fear for their and their children’s safety.
