Glidden City Council Moves Forward With Proposed Urban Revitalization Plan

The Glidden City Council met in special session earlier this week with only two items of business on the agenda. The first was a discussion on a proposed Urban Revitalization Plan within city limits. Administrator, Brooke Peterson, explains the details of this plan.

Peterson adds the council believes this will serve as an excellent tool to stimulate additional property and economic development within the community. Glidden has previously utilized similar incentive programs to great success.

According to Peterson, the proposed area is essentially the entirety of Glidden’s city limits, but there are some exceptions.

The city council is in favor of moving forward with the plan, but it does require a public hearing before it can be approved. That hearing is expected to take place at a meeting in the near future. The second item of business was a simple resolution approving the installation of two radar speed signs in town. Peterson says there have been an increasing number of complaints about speeding vehicles. City officials are hopeful the signs, which are expected to be placed soon, will address the issue without a need for additional traffic enforcement.
