Carroll County Sheriff Signs Letter Asking Biden Administration To Secure Our Borders; Says It Is Their Duty To Uphold The Constitution And Rule Of Law

Carroll County Sheriff, Ken Pingrey, joined 270 other Sheriffs from across the nation in signing a letter asking the Biden Administration to secure the border with Mexico. He agrees with the author when he writes they have all taken an oath to uphold and enforce the rule of law.

There is little or nothing known about the vast majority of these immigrants.

He says he doesn’t have the exact numbers, but ventures a guess that close to 95 percent of illegal drugs in this country come across the Mexican border.

There have been discussions within the Biden Administration to place illegal immigrants, particularly children, throughout the country. Pingrey says he is aware that Gov. Kim Reynolds had turned down that request for Iowa, and he supports her 100 percent in that decision. He says in looking back over the years and the various administrations, today’s policies are much different. In the past, if there was someone here illegally who committed a crime, the person would be arrested and ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) would come and get that person immediately. Pingrey says they are not seeing that cooperation right now, and it is frustrating; particularly in light of some serious cases in Iowa.

When it comes to upholding the rule of law, he says it goes beyond the illegalities of the way people are coming over the border and the fight against drugs. It is about using our resources to help Americans.

Every Sheriff that signed that letter wants to uphold the law and keep our citizens safe. A legal path to citizenship is available and when followed, Pingrey agrees we can welcome those individuals with open arms.
