Carroll County Public Health Opens Thursday’s Vaccine Clinic At Westgate Mall To Walk-Ins

Carroll County Public Health has announced they will be accepting walk-ins at tomorrow’s (Thursday) vaccination clinic. Doses will be administered from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Westgate Mall in Carroll. During her press conference Wednesday morning, Gov. Kim Reynolds suggested state officials would consider reallocating vaccines to higher-demand areas if clinics are unable to fully utilize their available doses. According to Carroll County Public Health Director, Nikki Schwering, more than 700 doses of the 1,000 allocated doses were still available as of Wednesday afternoon. In an effort to use at least 80 percent of those, organizers have decided walk-ins will be permitted.

Online appointments can still be made through approximately 9 a.m. Thursday. After that time, remaining vaccines will be administered to walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis. Schwering says they are hoping to serve at least 800 people to avoid reductions to next week’s allocations for the county. She notes you do not have to reside in Carroll County to attend Thursday’s clinic.

The demand for shots appears to be declining in the region. Public health officials from Crawford and Sac Counties deferred their most recent weekly allocation due to some uncertainty that all the doses would be administered in a timely manner. Individuals who participate in Thursday’s clinic at the Westgate Mall will receive their second dose on Friday, May 14 at the same site.
